Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems has launched the Femto LDV Z Models Z2, Z4 and Z6. The new femtosecond platforms can be used for
treating a wide range of applications in ocular surgery.
The systems operate at pulse frequencies in the megahertz range and use very low pulse energy. This enables excellent visual
outcomes and faster recovery.
The modular platform solution means on-site upgrades are available for all versions of the Femto LDV Z Models. All systems
can easily be moved between different surgical rooms, meaning Femto LDV Z Models are multisite universal systems. Femto LDV
Z Models are able to create large corneal flaps, uniform flap thickness, thin flaps and fully computercontrolled suction.

Geuder has introduced a new 25-gauge cannula for fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) for uvea melanoma. The surface millimetre
markings enable the faciliation of precise penetration into the uveal melanoma.
The cannula has a short bevel, meaning it can fully enter the needle tip into the tumour. The diagnostic yield is higher due
to the superior cellularity of the biopsy.

Carl Zeiss has launched the Cirrus HDOCT platform for the analysis and diagnosis of age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
The Cirrus HD-OCT features a retina application that provides Advanced Retinal Pigment Epithelium (RPE) analysis, This mean
the clinicians can objectively monitor changes in dry AMD.
RPE elevation, area and volume can also be tracked with the application and can identify and measure the area of transparent
regions in the RPE.

Presbyopia treatment system
The PresbyMAX Monovision, offered by Schwind, can be used in combination with Schwind Amaris laser systems for the treatment
The system uses bi-aspheric multifocal ablation profiles, enabling an optimum relationship between near and distance vision.
It works by directing the dominant eye on distance vision and directs the nondominant eye towards near vision.
Rapid visual recovery is possible at all visual distances with the PresbyMAX and is welltolerated in uncorrected conditions.
The system is ideal for patients who would like excellent distance vision. Ocular defects such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism
can be corrected with the PresbyMAX.
