Taflotan, developed by Santen, is a preservativefree prostglandin eye drop tailored for glaucoma patients. The drops provide an alternative treatment for lowering intraocular pressure.

The eye drops are an ideal solution for patients who experience side effects from glaucoma eye drops with preservatives. Taflotan is also well-suited for dry and sensitive eyes.

Results from several recent studies have demonstrated the safety and efficacy of Taflotan. The eye drops reduce ocular symptoms and signs.

DMEK instrument set

Geuder's Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK) instrument set is ideal to use when performing posterior lamellar keratoplasty.

The set includes the SZURMAN DMEK cartridge. This enables touch-free and friction-free handling of the donor tissue.

The cartridge allows the smooth and controlled implantation of the donor tissue into the patient's anterior chamber. The cartridge is slender; meaning it only needs a 3.0 mm clear cornea incision. The DMEK procedure can be performed without subsequent suturing.

As well as the sterile SZURMAN implantation cartridge, the DMEK set includes instruments for preparing donor tissue, preparing the patient's eye and the implantation of donor tissue.

Pattern-scanning laser

Topcon Medical Laser Systems has launched the PASCAL Streamline 577 laser. The trueyellow 577 nm wavelength system is a pattern-scanning laser for treating anterior and posterior ophthalmic disorders.

The laser system is able to treat glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, wet age-related macular degeneration and retinal vascular occlusive disease.

The Streamline 577 system enables surgeons to conduct procedures efficiently and with more control. Laser parameters can be finely tuned, meaning patient comfort is significantly improved.

The system causes less trauma and more control over laser output due to the wavelength being 'macular friendly'. It is possible to print procedure summaries with PASCAL Streamline 577, as well as using the onboard Video Teaching System (VTS). The VTS comes complete with an integrated video camera and monitor.
