Connecting the community: Social media used for panel discussion

Ophthalmology Times Europe

A Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) panel discussion will be held by the International Agency for the prevention of Blindness (IAPB) solely via social networking.

Everyone in the ophthalmic community is encouraged to submit questions via Facebook, Twitter and email. International industry leaders will then answer the questions and offer suitable advice.

The CSR panellists include Caroline Roan, president of the Pfizer foundation, Alcon’s Strategic Markets Medical Director in Asia, Dr Hunter Cherwek and Claude Darnault, Chief Sustainability Officer at Essilor in France.

Phillip Albano, Coordinator of the CSR panel stated, "Whether it’s providing financial or in-kind support, CSR plays a critical role in national eye care systems. Less understood though is the considerations businesses take into account before entering into private/public partnerships. During the symposium, leaders in the field will explore the theory and practice of CSR, highlight key public/private partnerships and discuss ways in which the private sector, governments, NGOs and others might partner more effectively in the future."
