Thank you!

I know this may sound a little dramatic (that's me I'm afraid), but I was close to tears on several occasions during two of the most recent congresses that I attended — the Euretina meeting in Vienna and the European Glaucoma Society congress in Berlin. My tears were those of joy. During these two meetings I was approached by so many of our readers, each offering kind words of support for the magazine and even congratulations. On one occasion, a well-respected European glaucoma surgeon, who I hold in very high esteem, praised the efforts of the OTE team so much that I had to restrain myself from hugging him! I also received a lovely gift from one of our readers and past contributors; a lovely bracelet, which was offered as thanks for accepting her research for publication.

Although we have always received a steady stream of feedback from readers, contributors and industry, both in writing and in person, never have we been bombarded by so many compliments in such a short space of time. I was elated.

Our team works very hard to deliver a service to you that we hope you find both useful and informative. By incorporating the views and experiences of ophthalmologists from all walks of life, it has been our aim to provide a forum for everyone.

I just want you to know how touched I, and the OTE team, have been by your enthusiasm and support of this magazine. As we continue to evolve, we would like to do so in the knowledge that we are serving you to the best of our ability, so please do continue to let us know what you want to see in your magazine and on the OTE website.

Okay, that's the emotional stuff over with. On another note, the draw for the winner of the trip for two to Berlin took place in July and I would like to offer my personal congratulations to Dr André Muller who will be taking his wife on the luxury trip to Berlin in September. My sincere thanks to all of you who entered the competition. We will continue to run reader competitions so please do keep a look out for these at congresses, within our magazine and on our website in future.

With heartfelt thanks and best wishes,
