Farewell... And hello

Ophthalmology Times Europe
Volume 5, Issue 2

Farewell from me…
I have been Editor of Ophthalmology Times Europe since we launched the magazine over three years ago and I can honestly say that I have never felt quite as passionate and enthusiastic in my professional career as I have working on OTE. As odd as this sounds, OTE has been a real labour of love and working on this title has been an incredible journey for me, both professionally and personally. I have been fortunate to work in such a remarkable industry, with people who not only make such a difference to the lives of so many people, but who genuinely care.
As you can tell from the tone of my message, things are indeed changing on OTE's editorial team. I am moving onto a different role within Advanstar Communications, publishers of OTE. I will, however, not be relinquishing all of my involvement in this magazine and its products, and I will be leaving you in the very capable hands of my colleague Pam Brook. Pam has an extensive track record of achievements in publishing; she is an exceptional editor and I am absolutely thrilled that she has agreed to join the wonderful OTE team and I hope you will all join me in welcoming her.
I would now like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere thanks to you, the reader for making my job on OTE so rewarding. Thanks too for all of the kind words and the feedback that I have received over the years and to our first class Editorial Advisory Board members who have offered such invaluable support to me and the magazine and who it has been a real joy to work with.
Thank you for making my job a real pleasure.
Best wishes,
fedra pavlou
Fedra Pavlou

…and hello from me
Firstly, I would like to thank and congratulate Fedra on her well-deserved and exciting promotion within our group. No reader of OTE can doubt that it is Fedra, and her team's hard work, commitment and extensive knowledge of the industry that has made Ophthalmology Times Europe the success it is today, following its launch in October 2005. So, I'm delighted to be able to say that the magazine will continue to benefit from Fedra's expertise as she has agreed to continue contributing at various times throughout this coming year. We all wish her every success in her new role.
I am extremely pleased to be joining OTE at what promises to be both a changing and subsequently, challenging time. Whilst none of us can know what the fallout from the current economic climate will be for the ophthalmology profession our editorial team will continue to best suit your needs as readers by bringing you relevant, topical and unbiased information. That will not just be in print but with additional exclusive web content at www.oteurope.com and via our weekly enewsletter and also through new digital products.
For those cataract and refractive surgeons who were not able to attend the live Ophthalmology Times Europe online seminar, in association with Carl Zeiss Meditec, there is an opportunity to view, on demand, what you missed at www.oteurope.comm/zeiss.
Over the course of the coming months I look forward to speaking and meeting with many readers and as always, we welcome your comments and feedback. It's easy — just go to www.oteurope.com/forum where you can share practical experience, clinical knowledge and assist in developing a pan-European ophthalmology community.
We look forward to continuing to make a real contribution to promoting improvements to medical practice and patient health.
Thank you.
Pamela Brook
